The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary, which opened to the public in April 2019, is the much-loved sister sanctuary to Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and the Jukani Wildlife sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay (Western Cape). The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is our 1st wildlife sanctuary in KwaZulu Natal and it is situated near Ballito along the Dolphin Coast.
We take our visitors on wildlife tours. Your tour starts at reception with a short drive on a safari vehicle to our 23-hectare hidden forest. From there, you will be taken on a guided walking tour during which your guide will help you look for the multiple species of free-roaming primates including capuchin monkeys, ringtail and black-and-white ruffed lemurs, buff-cheeked gibbon, squirrel monkeys, black howler monkeys, spider monkeys, bushbuck, Natal duiker and other wildlife in their forest home. You will also experience countless other natural wonders whilst on your walking tour in our stunning forest.
There’s a large secure parking lot, gift shop, children's jungle gym, toilet facilities, prayer room, cinema and licensed pizza restaurant at the reception area.
The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-see place whether KwaZulu-Natal is your home or you are visiting on holiday. The sanctuary is currently open from 8.30am to 4pm every day, including all weekends and public holidays.
The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is a 100% family-friendly eco-attraction and can be visited in any weather (subject to the right clothing).
It is recommended that you wear comfortable closed in shoes for your guided walk through the forest and apply mosquito repellent.
