About Us
The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary, situated near Ballito along KwaZulu-Natal’s Dolphin Coast, opened to the public in April 2019. It is part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA) family, which includes Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay. This sanctuary offers guided tours where visitors can explore a 23-hectare forest, encountering free-roaming primates such as capuchin monkeys, lemurs, squirrel monkeys, black howler monkeys, and more, alongside other wildlife like bushbuck, duiker and mongoose. With a gift shop, secure parking, a licensed restaurant, and family-friendly facilities, the sanctuary provides a unique and educational experience, all while maintaining a strict no-touch policy to protect the animals.

Vision
The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary, as part of SAASA, aims to create awareness about the threats facing wildlife and their natural habitats. SAASA is committed to improving the lives of captive wildlife by relocating them to appropriate sanctuaries, where they can thrive in a natural environment. Our vision is to inspire a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation and to challenge harmful practices such as hands-on wildlife interaction and illegal wildlife trade.

Mission
Our mission is to educate the public about the challenges wildlife face both in captivity and in the wild, with a focus on the negative effects of the pet-play-and-pay industry. Through our #HandsOffOurWildlife campaign, we raise awareness about the dangers of keeping wild animals as pets and the impact of habitat destruction due to human activities. We encourage responsible consumer choices, supporting products that are animal-friendly and environmentally sustainable.
