Our sister sanctuary, Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary near Plettenberg Bay, is raising funds to secure the forest for current and future primates needing a safe forever home.

The welfare of the primates at Monkeyland, along with all the animals at Jukani, Birds of Eden and The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is the responsibility of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA), a PBO and non-profit organisation.  However, the Monkeyland forest operates on land belonging to a proprietary limited company.

As the sanctuary's founder and CEO points out "If future generations of shareholders don't feel as passionately as we do, there's nothing stopping them from selling off the land for development and leaving the animals with nowhere to go."

The owners of the farm have agreed to sell the land to SAASA and SAASA, in turn, has set up the "Buy a Square Metre" campaign so that members of the public can help fund the purchase by donating as little as a single square metre to the cause.  Just $5 or R90 will buy one square metre.  Click here to see a map of the Monkeyland forest.
